Research Institute for Management of Technology
History
Research Institute for Management of Technology was founded in March 2011 in Sogang University as a part of establishing and supporting Graduate School of Management of Technology by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Objective & Vision
The Research Institute for Management of Technology was founded to give systematic support for research and education of faculty and graduate students related to management of technology in school, and play the role of Think Tank in Management of Technology (MOT) studies, along with Graduate School of Management of Technology. It will bring the participation of domestic and foreign businesses and academic world in the research and encourage them in the future. Furthermore, it seeks to be positioned as the representative research institute for MOT in Korea.

The research institute is an organization established to strengthen the research skills and unify the research efforts for MOT in school. In particular, it intends to promote and support the hosting of national and international conference of MOT, and publishing research papers, company cases, and works. In addition, it will achieve financial independence by obtaining research funds provided by related government organizations, research foundations, and businesses, and conducting educational services, and by doing so, seek a virtuous cycle that supports the research activities of faculty and graduate students in Sogang University.
Activities
For its smooth activities, the Technology Commercialization Research Center and Open Innovation Research Center are set up and run under the research institute. Major activities to accomplish its objectives are as follows:
  • - Academic study on critical issues of MOT research
  • - Hosting academic study conferences, symposiums, and lectures
  • - Publication of academic journals
  • - Development and publication of textbooks on MOT and cases
  • - Consultation on technology commercialization and technological innovation
  • - Academic consultation on technology patents and disputes
  • - Academic exchange with national and international research institutes
  • - Invitation and joint research with foreign scholars
  • - Execution of various research services
  • - Execution of MOT related practices and education services
